Skillful Turkmen women have been weaving exquisite patterns of magnificent carpets from ancient times to the present day. Among the various types of Turkmen carpets, the most fascinating are double-sided carpets. Their two sides feature entirely different color harmonies and motifs, forming a unique artistic composition. Turkmens' lives are closely intertwined with carpets. Initially serving as a household necessity that connected people with the world around them, carpets eventually evolved into an art form. The Turkmen people elevated carpet-related traditions to a sacred level, carefully preserving them and passing them down from mother to daughter. Every year, on the last Sunday of May, Turkmen Carpet Day is celebrated to honor this heritage. On this occasion, the Historical and Local Lore Museum of Mary Province showcased a mobile exhibition featuring classic carpet samples, carpet-related products, and several tools used for weaving. The exhibition left a lasting impression on visitors.
