About museum

The Local history museum of Mary province has been created in 1968 as the Mary history revolutionary museum. The first exposition of the museum has been opened in 1974. In 1986 the Mary museum becomes united, its structure joins the History Museum of Bayramaly town and Bayramaly cotton oil factory, the Historical museum in Turkmengala region, the Literary-memorial museum by the national poet of Turkmenistan Ata Salyh in Murgap region and the Museum of history and archaeology in Bayramaly region (manor of Guljemal khan). The decision of the President of Turkmenistan in 2010 for a museum had been constructed a magnificent building. It’s total area about 10 thousand square meters, 4 thousand from which are taken away under expositions. Solemn opening of the new building of museum in which the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov took part on February, 15th, 2010 .Museum’s expositions and exhibitions take place on the first and second floors. Visitors of the museum are met by archaeological, ethnographic expositions, and also halls of the fine arts, the nature, Independence and halls of time exhibitions. Many of the exhibits collected of Local history museum of Mary province are unique. And the finds, made by archeologists during excavation of last years in territory of Mary province, could become precious for leading world museum collections
